Web Model Marketing Tip - Selecting a Modeling Agency
When selecting a modeling agency, keep in mind ...
- Legitimate agencies don't require payment for modeling classes or to pay for a photo shoot with their photographer
- Be weary if you are asked to pay a fee upfront
- Ask for references and call them.
- Look around the agency's office. If it is unusually quiet or doesn't look like a real business, be careful.
- Be cautious if the agency is holding open calls at hotels and doesn't have an office or phone number
- If you are under 18, never meet with an agent without your parent or guardian. If pressured, avoid them.
- Don't sign with an agency if they insist you use their photographer.
- Be leery of classified ads looking for models
- Don't trust an agency that guarantees you work. If something
sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
- Don't trust an agency that pressures you or where you don't feel comfortable.
- In North America, check out the Better Business Bureau: http://www.bbb.org
- In the US, check out the Federal Trade Commission Website:

Web Model Marketing Tip of the Week - May 24, 2006
Modeling World is dedicated to your online success as a modeling professional.
The focus at Modeling World is to link your public information together to help you market yourself online and allow you to be found easier. One of the areas where Modeling World gets a good amount of traffic is through image searches. It dawned on us to make sure you have the best information available so your images get found on the web. As a model or modeling professional, image search should be very important to you.
Here are some tips to ensure your images get found on the net:
- Ensure your image file names have your name in them. Generic image file names don't say anything about you. Instead of uploading an image to modeling-world.com called Image_9876.jpg, rename the image to have your name in it.
- Ensure that when you add images to a website, that you include the alternate text associated with it. Modeling World displays your alternate text with your image.
- Make sure you include meaningful labels next to your images. On your website, ensure that you label your images with text.
- Upload your photos to an image service. One of the services owned by Yahoo! is Flickr. Flickr is an image social networking site which allows other people to comment on your images, allows you to label your images, share them with your fans, and contribute your images to groups. Yahoo uses images contributed to flickr and associated labels in their search engine result pages as part of a user driven search initiative.
Upload your images to the newly created Modeling World flickr account by doing the following:
1) attach an image to an email.
2) the subject line of the email will serve as the image's title so make it descriptive.
3) the body of the email will serve as the description of the image.
4) send the email to: below90stood@photos.flickr.com
5) repeat steps 1 through 4 for each image you want to contribute

D-Anna wins the Modeling World® April Hot Body Contest
New York , NY -- Ms. D-Anna won the Modeling World® April Hot Body Contest by capturing 29% of the popular vote. D-Anna started modeling at an early age and was fortunate enough to have parents that supported her dream of being a model. Her parents helped her career tremendously by paying for two different modeling schools and eight years of dance lessons.
She has always been inspired by inner and outer beauty and dreamed of being a role model for others. D-Anna was scouted at the Galleria Mall in Massachusetts Christmas shopping in 2000 and began professionally modeling soon after. She focuses her modeling career in the areas of high fashion, glamour, commercial, swimsuits, dance, and acting. In the future she'd like to get more into runway, print, magazine covers, calendars, music videos, and more!
D-Anna attributes her beautiful shape to hard work, discipline, swimming, and dancing. She focuses on swimming because she believes it works out her entire body and builds lean muscle. Photographers she has worked with have complimented her on her eyes and long, lean legs. D-Anna states, "I have always been told I have "bedroom eyes" and "very intense eyes" by photographers I've worked with in the past."
The Modeling World Hot Body Contest is the first online contest she's won even though she has been getting great exposure in both online and offline contests for years. Fans of hers can see her at the upcoming Internet Model Palooza, May 20, 2006 at the Score Club in Los Angeles .

Peggy Weidner Wins Modeling World® March 2006 Hot Body Contest
Peggy Weidner (MWID: 6660), a 32 year old model from Denton, Texas won the March 2006 Modeling World® Hot Body Contest by capturing 29% of the popular vote.
Mrs. Weidner began modeling in early 2005 to prove to other women that having a handicap doesn’t have to preclude them from a life of glamour and beauty. How to choose a photographer
How do I find a photographer? How do I know which photographers to work with? These are common questions many models ask. It is important for models to ensure they know who to spend their time with both for personal safety as well as using their time wisely. Here are some tips for choosing a photographer:
- Do not look for portrait photographers. You will need a photographer that is experienced in fashion modeling. You will most likely not find a fashion photographer in the phone book.
- Check out the photographer's website before meeting with him/her.
- Ask for references and phone numbers. Talk to people that have worked with this person in the past.
- If someone contacts you and wants to meet you for a photo shoot, do research and find out if they are legitimate. They may have other notions in mind.
- If you are asked to spend a large amount of money on your beginning portfolio pictures, be careful. Make sure you know what you buying. Shop around.
- If you are being promised work in exchange for spending money, make sure to get all commitments in writing. Being asked to spend money in advance for future services is a sign that you may be being taken advantage of.
Be leary of a photographer that does any of the following:
- If a photographer doesn't want to show you his/her work or references
- Tries to force you into using him/her because choices are limited.
- If they ask you to meet them at their home.
- Wants you to work with him/her as an exclusive relationship.
- Pressures you to pose nude.
- Makes you feel uncomfortable.
- Tells you to come to a photoshoot alone.
